At ACCA, our doors may be temporarily closed, but our minds are always open to new ideas. ACCA’s mission is to Do Art Differently – to challenge, connect and resonate – so that ACCA becomes the go-to place to engage with contemporary art now: a platform for artists, and a centre for the exchange of ideas, to reflect and inspire positive change in people and communities. Now, more than ever, we look to artists for inspiration, reflection, innovation and adaptation.

We are pleased to announce ACCA Open – a new open-call initiative, inviting Australian artists of all backgrounds, career levels and practices to share ambitious proposals for the production of new work to be presented digitally in August 2020. Three artists or collaborations will each be awarded an artist and production fee of $8,000 total (ex. GST) and offered the support of ACCA’s curatorial team to help realise their project.

ACCA Open aims to explore what can be created beyond our gallery walls and to support artists to extend their practices and find new ambitious ways of creating in these unprecedented times. ACCA Open will continue our outstanding track record propelling artists’ careers, and build on our significant legacy of major commissions, which continue to circulate and influence the understanding, appreciation and recent history of contemporary art.
