ACCA is seeking an experienced designer to join our team. The Graphic Designer contributes to ACCA\u2019s artistic, engagement and institutional objectives through the development of graphic design across exhibitions, public programs, marketing campaigns, social media channels, digital platforms, annual reports and other strategic documents and special projects. This position supports both structured campaign delivery and responsive ad hoc digital content to maintain agility across ACCA\u2019s communications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Key responsibilities include shaping and producing clear, consistent and accessible visual communication across print and digital formats for diverse audiences, ensuring alignment with ACCA\u2019s brand, visual identity and voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Working in collaboration with heads of departments across curatorial, engagement, visitor experience and education, this role supports the creation of exhibition and program identities and marketing assets that enhance visitor experience and reflect ACCA\u2019s artistic program and values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is a part-time, FTE 0.6 position, 3 days per week, on a fixed term 24-month contract (renewable by mutual agreement).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
$80,000 per annum at a pro rata rate of 0.6 = $48,000 per annum, plus superannuation (currently 12%)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With trans rights increasingly under threat internationally, this is a timely exhibition that addresses themes of memory, representation, intersectionality, and positionality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n r e a\u2019s work has illuminated the ongoing impacts of colonisation on queer and Indigenous bodies. Their important practice has positioned them as a vital and inspiring presence in the Australian art landscape, making sustained and significant contributions to experimental new media practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n r e a was among the first Indigenous artists to exhibit at Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA), participating in Blakness: Blak City Culture<\/em><\/a> in 1994. Working across photography, video, sound, performance, and multi-sensory installation, r e a explores their relationship to gender within the context of post-colonial Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Archival storytelling is often central to r e a\u2019s practice, which is deeply personal, generous, and provocative. Informed by new media theory, they layer text, image and colour to trace transgenerational histories and interrogate how attitudes toward race are embedded in both language and art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This exhibition is part of ACCA\u2019s 2025\u20132026 Summer Season highlighting the work of two leading artists: r e a and Tourmaline. With new and recent large-scale paintings and murals, and an immersive 3-channel video installation, Self\u2019s distinctive style combines paint, recycled materials, collage, textiles, sewn and printing techniques in her exploration of figuration. Self\u2019s texturally complex works present forms of embodiment, selfhood and human flourishing. Through her art, Self offers profound insights into the experiences and embodiment of Black identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In this exhibition, Self has designed a series of contemplative, psychologically charged immersive spaces, filled with striking 2D and 3D works. Through cut-outs, sightlines, installation, and murals, Self has created an immersive exhibition experience \u2013 one where audiences are encouraged to feel part of the installation. Inside her fantastical worlds, the audience becomes active participants in the work. Self\u2019s characters challenge the viewer to reflect on how we define our identities and how we are seen by those around us. Five Acts of Love <\/em>offers space for reflection and an opportunity to delve into profound internal and external truth telling through the exploration of various acts of love.<\/em> The exhibition revolves around five acts: resistance, revolution, intimacy, memory and annihilation. <\/strong>Each act of love circles around what we ultimately relinquish when we love and are loved.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n The assembled works offer love as loss, and as conversations about grief and yearning. Love is also presented as memory and memorialisation. Resistance and revolution are reimagined through the earth and continued connection to it, whilst intimacy is presented within the gentleness of familial gatherings, and the company of comrades.
