DJ Earl Grey is a Naarm\/Melbourne-based DJ, curator of Best Effort Records and co-founder of Tender \u2014 an acoustically treated listening room and community space dedicated to deep listening and cultural programming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

George Kartas<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Georgia\/George Kartas (\u0393\u03b5\u03c9\u03c1\u03b3\u03af\u03b1\u00a0\u039a\u03ac\u03c1\u03c4\u03b1) was a Warburg Institute Occasional Student in 2026 and is a PhD candidate at Monash University, researching collaborations with the dead. She has been reading tarot for nearly twenty years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACCA is pleased to offer a free Audio Described tour of current exhibition, NEW26<\/em>. Join us on Saturday the 14th of November at 11:15am for a roving tour with tactile elements, lead by Sophie Coppenhall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Celebrating the most compelling emerging artists from our region through bold and ambitious new commissions, NEW offers a vital platform for the next generation of Australian artists to experiment, take risks, and present major new work within a public institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Designed with the blind and low-vision community in mind, this tour will be informal, accessible in content and allow for self-directed exploration. We would like people to engage in the tour however works best for them. This could mean coming and going throughout, engaging in conversation or just listening to the information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Access: <\/strong>ACCA is fully wheelchair accessible, with a wheelchair accessible bathroom, and a wheelchair available for use in the gallery on request at the front desk. About ah ah ah art!<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Established in collaboration with ACCA in 2023, \u0101h \u00e1h \u01ceh \u00e0rt! is a social art club that connects Chinese-speaking communities with contemporary art and artists. The group aims to enhance understanding, awareness, and support for contemporary art within these communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded by Xinyuan (Caesar) Li, Zhen Xiong, Evelyn Han and Yue Yang, the club currently comprises Caesar Li, Zhen Xiong, Shujing (Jenna) Ji, Pallaksch, Haocheng Zhang and Chenchen Wang. The name of the art club is derived from one of the most commonly used sounds in language, \u201cah\u201d, which is often used to express exclamations, surprises, questions, and other moods. In the Chinese language, the four tones give the language different expressions and meanings, and the same expression exists in different cultures and languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACCA is pleased to present NEW Collective, a series of free monthly sessions for emerging artists and curators. NEW Collective provides an opportunity for emerging practitioners to meet informally with other creatives at a similar career stage and to hear from ACCA artists and arts workers. It’s a chance to share ideas, pool resources and create connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While this program is free, registration is required and spots are limited. Sessions are designed for dropping in, please feel free to join for multiple sessions or just one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be three sessions to align with NEW26<\/em><\/a>.


Session 3: Curatorial Perspectives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the third and final session of the season, hear from ACCA’s Senior Curator & Head of Exhibitions, Dr Shelley McSpedden and ACCA Curator Sophie Prince about their pathways and approaches to the curatorial process, including artist selection, themes, artwork placement, exhibition design, collaborative practices and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Dr Shelley McSpedden<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shelley McSpedden is Senior Curator and Head of Exhibitions at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA). Prior to joining ACCA, she was Senior Curator and Acting Artistic Director at Shepparton Art Museum (SAM). Shelley has also held curatorial roles at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), Monash University Museum of Art (MUMA) and National Exhibitions Touring Support (NETS), as well as academic appointments at Monash University and RMIT. Shelley holds a PhD from the Art History and Theory program at Monash University.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sophie Prince<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sophie Prince is Curator at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA). Sophie is a curator, writer, editor, and arts manager with over ten years experience working across exhibitions, publishing, and arts organisations. She has contributed to major exhibition and publication projects focused on Contemporary, Australian and First Nations art through her work at ACCA, the National Gallery of Victoria, VAULT Magazine and Heide MoMA.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
