In 2004, in association with the Visible Art Foundation, ACCA presented the first of a number of large-scale publicly sited works on the architectural facade of the Republic Tower, Melbourne. Several stories tall and located on the corner of Queen and LaTrobe streets in Melbourne’s busy CBD the billboard placed contemporary art smack-bang in the middle of the city’s day-to-day activities. The first of several projects curated by ACCA at this site Barbara Kruger’s bold monochromatic text based work Blind Eye debuted to great response from the art world and city dwellers alike.
