Eugenia Raskopoulos: Dangling Virgins

19 Aug–2 Oct 1994

ACCA, Dallas Brooks Drive, The Domain

Sydney-based artist Eugenia Raskopoulos explores complex issues of ethnic identity and gender from the perspective of a Greek Australian woman. The connections between the outsider status of women in classical Greece and migrant women’s experiences in Australia, were traced in this “haunting and evocative” photographic and video installation. This was one of three exhibitions programmed at this time that considered notions of identity as constructed by race, memory, gender and location.
