ACCA, Dallas Brooks Drive, The Domain
Since the mid 1980s, Melbourne artist Jan Nelson has explored ideas about 'woman' that focused on sex and reproduction. Through her 'domestically' crafted and endlessly reproducible objects of plaster and basket weaving, Nelson drew attention to the particular place (or invisibility) of women in society. This was one of three exhibitions programmed at this time that considered issues of sculptural representation in different media.
