Mark Galea: Model

4 Feb–12 Mar 2000

ACCA, Dallas Brooks Drive, The Domain

Mark Galea’s practice explores the principals of movement and motion, often referred to in his paintings. On this occasion he applied his interests to real space with a 90 degree rotation intervention in the middle gallery at ACCA. The floor was moved to a wall, the ceiling was relocated to the opposite wall and so on, but the viewer’s position in actual space remained the same. The illusion of motion reflected the active perceptual role of the audience in defining the effect of the work.
