Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg:
The Secret Garden
Published on the occasion of the major exhibition Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg: The Secret Garden – curated by Louise Neri and Juliana Engberg – at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA) and the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA), this major volume serves as both a comprehensive exhibition catalogue and a selective overview of the Berlin-based, Swedish duo’s prolific, decade-long output across claymation film, sculpture, installation, music and sound.
Featuring 160 pages of extensive exhibition documentation and a bank of film stills, the book expands on a practice that is at once surrealistic and erotic, densely psychological and visceral, in its wrangling of base human fears, mythologies and desires. The book includes an extensive conversation between Louise Neri and the artists, as well as key texts by Julian Engberg and PICA director Amy Barrett-Lennard.
