ART#2 ACCA REGIONAL TOUR: Horsham

7 May–3 Jul 2011

Horsham Regional Art Gallery

The second in a series of regional exhibitions curated by the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA) around the State will kick off in May at Horsham Regional Art Gallery.

Launched in 2010, the ACCA Regional Tour (ART) series is designed to bring the latest works from Melbourne’s leading contemporary art space to regional Victoria.

Horsham Regional Art Gallery
Will host an exhibition of works that respond to the photographic focus of the Horsham collection. Artists Stuart Ringholt, Nicholas Mangan, Bianca Hester, Joshua Petherick, Fiona Abicare, Benjamin Armstrong, Matthew Griffin and Damiano Bertoli will each present works that explore image making through collage, cut-ups and photograms. Video artists TV Moore, Laresa Kosloff and Justene Williams will also exhibit recent works that question the stability of the image and archive.

HEADLINERS (Weeks 1-8) 2011
Agatha Gothe-Snape

Agatha Gothe-Snape’s project for ART#2 begins with an advertisement that seeks Horsham locals interested in being featured in The Weekly Advertiser. Once contact has been made with interested parties, the artist will select eight individuals to participate in her artwork. Sydney-based, the artist will engage in weekly phone conversations with each participant, getting to know more about them and their opinions through inquiry and conversation. The resulting work will be a series of full-page headlines published weekly in Horsham’s local newspaper from 12 May – 30 June that capture the livelihood of each individual participant.
