ACCA’s annual NEW exhibition series, much watched and anticipated by artists and audiences as a benchmark for young practice, was the perennial showcase for the next generation of Australian artists to test their abilities in a major public space. In 2010 NEW reinvigorated itself with a new format in which commissioned artists worked with teams of artisans and designers to expand their practice. ACCA’s team led by Artistic Director, Juliana Engberg comprised a 4 person curatorium with Hannah Mathews, Rebecca Coates and Anna Macdonald, which opened up curatorial discussion and offered opportunities for skills and knowledge sharing.
