Xu Zhen: The Last Few Mosquitoes

8 Oct–22 Oct 2005

Presented by the Melbourne International Arts Festival, Xu Zhen: The Last Few Mosquitoes examines the conditions of illusion, existence itself, and the sensory philosophy of our engagement with the nature of our environment.

Xu Zhen’s robotic mosquitos were sent from Shanghai as a kit to Spacement, a Collins Street project space run by a young team of artists and curators. Spacement coordinated the exhibition with BizArt, an arts project operated by young artists working in Shanghai, established by Xu Zhen in 2000.

The tri-screen video projection of Xu Zhen’s From Inside the Body 1999 screened in the adjacent gallery as part of the event.
