Join ACCA’s Senior Curator Annika Kristensen in conversation with ACCA Open artists Archie Barry, Madeleine Flynn and Tim Humphrey, and Amrita Hepi and Sam Lieblich to discuss their new digital commissions that respond to the unusual times and cultural conditions in which they are produced.
Archie Barry’s project is oriented towards the affective realms of sound and music, away from ocular-centric presence; whilst Madeleine Flynn and Tim Humphrey explore the endless ambience and elasticity of time; and Amrita Hepi and Sam Lieblich deploy language, movement and neuroscience to consider the increasing prevalence of algorithmic subjectivity.
From artificial intelligence to sound, animation, video and archives, this conversation will delve into the various possibilities of working in the digital realm.
ACCA Open is a new series of contemporary art projects commissioned for the digital realm, initially conceived as a way for ACCA to continue to work with and support contemporary artists during COVID-19-related gallery closures and disruptions. The six newly commissioned projects are by Archie Barry, Zanny Begg, Léuli Eshrāghi, Madeleine Flynn and Tim Humphrey, Amrita Hepi and Sam Lieblich, and Sean Peoples.
An artist talk with Léuli Eshrāghi, Sean Peoples and Zanny Begg will take place on zoom on Thursday 29 October, 5–6pm. Register here.
This event will have live closed captioning and Auslan interpretation.
