This school holiday workshop is for secondary teachers wanting to strengthen their art writing skills before the school year begins. Participants will consider how to approach and refine writing about processes and ideas, as well as, how to communicate the formal and conceptual content of the artwork of others.
ACCA educators will guide teachers through a structured analysis of an example of reflective art writing, with the opportunity to write a short text in response to an artwork within ACCA’s summer Big Picture exhibition Unfinished Business: Perspectives on art and feminism. The complex terrain between visual language and the written word will be approached as a creative problem that, through experimentation, practice and feedback, all young artists can learn to navigate.
