Design and stitch fabric letter forms with artist Nadia Hernández as part of ACCA’s artist-led workshop series. In this workshop, Hernández will guide participants through a series of type-based exercises inspired by Latin American Modernism including the work of architects Gio Ponti, Jorge Romero Gutiérrez, and Carlos Raul Villanueva, and the correlation between modernist design and artists in their work during the 50s-60s in Venezuela. Participants will design and stitch letter forms out of recycled fabrics to create a swatch or starting point for a large-scale work.
ACCA’s Winter Workshop Series
Join ACCA Education for a series of three practical art-making workshops developed alongside our current exhibition Like a Wheel That Turns: The 2022 Macfarlane Commissions.
Led by exhibiting artists Nadia Hernández, Lucina Lane, and Jahnne Pasco-White, each workshop will introduce participants to new approaches and techniques for painting. With a particular emphasis on collaging to expand your painting practice, this series is open to all and is an ideal professional development opportunity for educators and tertiary students.
All materials are included. All workshops are single events and there are special ticket prices for teachers and student teachers. Places are limited so get in quick!
