FUTURE FORUM #4: I don’t know much about art, but I know what I like

Tue 6 May 2014
12am

This is a past program.
ABC Southbank Centre

Who are the future audiences for contemporary art?

The power and participation of consumers has erupted through social networking, but how much consumer influence is good for the arts? Should audiences dictate content? Are the traditional distinctions between artist and audience disappearing? Should we be striving for bigger and bigger audiences or fewer truly engaged participants? Who will be the audiences of the future?

SPEAKERS:

– Stephanie Rosenthal, Chief Curator, Hayward Gallery
– Rose Hiscock, Director, Powerhouse Museum
– Callum Morton, Artist and Head of Fine Arts, Monash University
– Hilary Glow, Associate Professor, Director Arts Management Program, Deakin University
