Join us for a glass of wine and conversation focusing on a diverse range of painting practices and positions. A lively program of free artist talks and symposiums will unfold throughout the exhibition Painting. More Painting to explore the pictorial logic and medium specificity of contemporary Australian painting.

Chapter 1:

Saturday 30 July, 3.30pm – Artist Talks
Vivienne Binns, Abdul Abdullah and Lisa Radford will discuss their work presented as solo studies in Painting. More Painting. Followed by drinks in the ACCA foyer.

Saturday 13 August, 3.30pm – Artist Talks
Nadine Christensen, Kirsty Budge and Louise Hearman present a range of positions in relation to the panorama section of the exhibition Painting. More Painting. Followed by drinks in the ACCA foyer.

Saturday 27 August, 3.00pm – Symposium
A keynote address by artist and art historian A.D.S. Donaldson will be followed by reflections by Helen Johnson, Helen Maudsley and Geoff Newton on the role of painting as a critical practice and its reception in contemporary art discourse.

Chapter 2:

Saturday 3 September, 3.30pm – Artist Talks
Mitch Cairns, Matthys Gerber and Karl Wiebke will discuss their work presented as solo studies in Painting. More Painting. Followed by drinks in the ACCA foyer.

Saturday 17 September, 3.30pm – Artist Talks
Gareth Sansom and Peter Westwood present a range of positions in relation to the panorama section of the exhibition Painting. More Painting. Followed by drinks in the ACCA foyer.

Saturday 24 September, 3.00pm – Symposium
A keynote address by curator and writer Justin Paton will be followed by conversation with essay contributors, Jan Bryant and Quentin Sprague, and participating artist, Angela Brennan, on the role of painting as a critical practice and its reception in contemporary art discourse.
