1 – 4pm
Join Curator Sophie Prince for a tour of the exhibition Are You Lonely Tonight? I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry, followed by an inspiring art writing masterclass.
Designed for educators, this workshop introduces practical strategies and creative exercises that open up new ways of looking at, thinking about and writing about art. Teachers will explore approaches to critical, creative and reflective writing, gaining ideas and techniques that can be adapted for use in the classroom to support student engagement, observation and creative expression.
Sophie Prince joined ACCA in 2025 and is a curator, writer, editor and arts manager with over a decade of experience working across exhibitions, publishing and arts organisations. Prince recently edited and coordinated ACCA publications for Five Acts of Love, r e a : c l a i m e d and Are You Lonely Tonight? I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry. Her diverse experience includes independent curatorial projects with contemporary artists, editorial roles at VAULT Magazine and Art Ink, and curatorial work at the NGV, Heide Museum of Modern Art, and the Victorian Bar’s Portrait Collection.
This session is aimed at secondary teachers and art educators who would like to explore different ways of writing about art to better support their students, particularly those delivering VCE Art Making and Exhibiting Units 3 and 4 (Area of Study 3) and Unit 2 (Area of Study 1). This informal session will take place during the exhibition Are You Lonely Tonight? I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry.
There will be opportunities for Q&A and light refreshments.
