Join us for the spookiest trivia night Melbourne has ever seen, and celebrate the closing of ACCA’s major horror exhibition From the other side.

Zachary Ruane (Aunty Donna, Lido’s Fun Time Film Club) will preside over our Trivia of Terror, and mouth-wateringly macabre menu will be served along the Nightmare on Prawn Street by the mad scientists from Long Prawn. Self-described ‘punk-rock parasite’, Demitrex Darkhold will hold our hands through this nightmare as MC, and horror hound Hudson Sowada (Umbrella Entertainment) will haunt us from beyond the grave.

Throughout the evening we’ll share ghost stories with leading horror festivals and groups, such as Monster Fest, Fantastic Film Festival Australia, Cinemaniacs, Stranger With My Face Film Festival, and the Melbourne Horror Film Society.

The night will end in a rain of hellfire: a performance from Australia’s premiere satanic gospel band, Dane Blacklock & the Preacher’s Daughter. This will be a nightmare you’ll never forget (even if you wish you could…).

If you don’t arrive with a locked and loaded trivia team, our Gallery of Ghouls will help assemble your team, with a maximum of 6 people per team.

Contributor Biographies

Demitrex Darkhold is the punk rock parasite. Drawing inspiration from cinema’s most legendary slasher icons, as well as the 90s punk-rock era, Demitrex is a powerful force in edgy, alternative and horror drag. Their performance style is ‘energetic and enigmatic’: providing stunts, shock value and other unexpected shenanigans. Reigning from Naarm’s western suburbs, Demitrex Darkhold is dubbed the ‘rising star’ of the alternative drag scene. Their repertoire is expansive, with multiple performance styles and musical tastes, it’s a guaranteed show once they hit the stage!

As well as being one third of the comedy trio Aunty Donna (The Aunty Donna Podcast, Aunty Donna’s Coffee Cafe, Aunty Donna’s Big Ole House of Fun), Zachary Ruane runs Lido Cinema’s Fun Time Film Club and hosts the podcast Mish and Zach’s Leguizamarama.

Dane Blacklock & the Preacher’s Daughter is Australia’s premiere satanic gospel experience. Delivering Satan-approved big band bacchinalia, the band will have you revelling in sordid and unholy exhibitions of the flesh. Cast of your shame to join them in the eternal pit of bliss.

Long Prawn is an artistic food practice that delivers rigorously researched food expertise heavily seasoned with creative event design. Food enveloped in community, props and performance from buffet tables to nouveau-haute cuisine. Responsive, rewarding and resourceful eating.

Hudson Sowada is National Sales Manager at Umbrella Entertainment and Artistic Director of Fantastic Film Festival Australia.

A collaboration between RMIT’s Streaming Industries and Genre Network and ACCA. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its arts funding and advisory body.
