2007
2007 was another busy year for ACCA. As well as presenting a program of exciting and challenging artistic projects at home, ACCA’s creative team played an important role in supporting the largest Australian representation at the 52nd Venice Biennale. ACCA’s Artistic Director oversaw three major projects by Callum Morton, Susan Norrie and Daniel von Sturmer at various sites throughout Venice. The work of these artists drew critical acclaim from international media and drew the largest number of Australian and International visitors to Australian projects at the Venice Biennale on record.
In 2007 ACCA continued to grow all areas of its operation, achieving outstanding artistic and public outcomes and substantially increasing its audience by 30% from 2006. ACCA’s programs drew constant publicity and positive critical reviews and maintained a high profile in the media.
ACCA’s financial support base continued to grow. Recurrent government funding was maintained at 2006 levels, whilst support from the private sector increased through donations from individuals, trusts and foundations and corporate partnerships. In particular ACCA performed well above target in the area of private philanthropy, achieving a 55% increase in income through donations in 2007.
There were some slight changes to the staff in 2007. Judy Buchan was appointed as Donor and Events Manager at the beginning of the year. Rebecca Coates resigned as part-time Curator to work on her PHD. Rather than re-appoint to this post, it was decided to appoint a series of Associate Curators to work as project managers for individual exhibitions.
