New Mineral Collective: The Pleasure Report

New Mineral Collective: The Pleasure Report’ explores the innovative practice of New Mineral Collective (NMC), a collaboration between Tanya Busse and Emilija Škarnulytė. Investigating the intersections of land, body, and extractive industries, the publication highlights key projects from the past decade, including Pleasure Prospects (2019) and Hollow Earth (2013). Through themes like speculative futures, geotrauma healing, and counter-prospecting – claiming mineral rights to resist extraction – NMC reimagines landscapes as spaces of resistance, memory, and care. From the PDAC mining conference to the architecture of Ontario Place, their work challenges mining narratives while envisioning reparative futures. Featuring contributions from Audre Lorde, Quinn Latimer, Astrida Neimanis, Cecily Nicholson, and others, this poetic and activist publication reflects on how land, like the body, remembers and heals.
