Access

ACCA’s long-term commitment to access, diversity and inclusion is supported by ACCA’s Equity Action Plan, which identifies priorities to work collectively to embrace and promote access, inclusion and diversity initiatives across the organisation.

Transport Points

Closest Tram Stop (not street level accessible)

Tram route 1 travels south along Swanston St from Flinders St Station. It turns right into Southbank Boulevard, then left into Sturt Street before reaching Stop 18 – Grant St/Sturt St, in the centre of the road (Grant St/Sturt St). The doors will open to your left. This tram trip takes around 9 minutes. Please note this stop does not have street level access (see next heading).

Once you exit the tram, you will need to cross one lane of traffic to reach the footpath to your left. There is a pedestrian crossing with traffic lights and a push button on a pole at this stop. To find it, follow the metal bannisters to your left as you exit the tram. The pole is located roughly 4m ahead from where the metal bannisters end.

Once you reach the footpath turn to your right and follow for roughly 20m before crossing over Grant St which has two lanes, divided by a traffic island. Both the edges of the street and the traffic island have curb cuts either side with no other tactile surface indicators on the ground.

Keep heading straight for around 90m to arrive at the front door of ACCA. You will walk past the entire length of the building before reaching the automated sliding glass doors which are facing Sturt St, and to your left.

Closest Street Level Access Tram Stop

Get off the tram at Stop 17 – Arts Precinct/Sturt St. The doors will open to your right. Turn to your left and follow the tactile surface indicators to the ramp at the end of the platform. At the bottom of this ramp is a pedestrian crossing with traffic lights and a pushbutton on a pole around 4m ahead. Cross over one lane of traffic on Sturt St to your left, then turn right just past the tactile surface indicators on the edge of the footpath.

Continue south down Sturt Street for around 350 metres in total to reach ACCA (roughly 5 mins). Around 250 metres along the way you will cross Grant St which has two lanes, divided by a traffic island. Both the edges of the street and the traffic island have curb cuts either side with no other tactile surface indicators on the ground.

Follow Sturt St for around 90m after that to arrive at the front door of ACCA. You will pass the entire length of the building before reaching the automated sliding glass doors which are facing Sturt St, and to your left.

Parking

There are 2 accessible parking spaces just past the laneway between ACCA (111 Sturt St) and the Malthouse Theatre (113 Sturt St). There is a large curb cut at the entrance to this laneway.

Car Drop Off

The best place for vehicle drop-off is at the laneway entrance between ACCA (111 Sturt St) and Malthouse Theatre (113 Sturt St). There is a break between parking spaces which will allow a car to safely pull over and let passengers out. There is also a large curb cut at the entrance to this laneway.
