Humid was an international exhibition that explored the feminine sublime. The exhibition referred to the sometimes petulant, sultry, even sexy feminine unconscious and its physical manifestations, its state of mind and state of being. Humid explored these notions through a sequence of works that involved the feminine body in states of repose, healing, excursion and re-production. Though rarely explicitly pictured, the female body became the site of drama through an investigation of some of the metaphoric sites of femininity – a flower, a forest, a bathhouse and a playground.
This exhibition was part of the 2001 Melbourne Festival Visual Arts Program.
