NEW08

12 Mar–11 May 2008

ACCA Main Exhibition Gallery

ACCA’s annual showcase of emerging talent was curated by ACCA’s Coordinating Curator, Anna MacDonald. Anna selected seven artists who each created new commissioned projects for ACCA’s spaces.  Artists were from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. NEW08 demonstrated the growing interest in anthropological and optical minimalism evident in Argyle, Jones and Selig’s works, and the persistence of symmetry in the works of Bond. Hinkley’s meticulous hand drawn blemishes asserted the analogue over the digital, de Vietri activated performative procedures, while Knight examined the erotic potential of photographic forensics.

Exhibiting Artists: Daniel Argyle, Chris Bond, Matt Hinkley, Jonathan Jones, Paul Knight, Sandra Selig, Gabrielle de Vietri

Commissioning Curator: Anna Macdonald
