Duty of Care 2021–22 by Morwenna Schenck is an interactive pop-up propagation station. It is an intimate encounter with local ecologies through a moment of reciprocity.
Morwenna Schenck is an artist and designer based in Naarm (Melbourne) creating work for performance and experimental arts. Her practice encompasses illustration, drafting, construction and production management. She has delivered projects across various creative industries in both creative and production roles for theatre, festivals, televised events, galleries and exhibitions.
Schenck has collaborated on a number of projects exploring perspectives on climate and ecology. She collaborated with Punctum Inc in 2018 to design the temporary structure Public Cooling House for an experiential work addressing ‘water futures’ and evaporative cooling techniques, and again in 2020 to create an interactive installation design for theWay~theWater~theWalk, a participatory work examining water management systems of the Murray Darling Basin.
Schenck is a collaborating member of The Pump, an interdisciplinary exchange platform and community of artists, scientists, academics and community leaders. The Pump blend artistic and scientific practice to create projects that promote agency in people’s relationships with water.
Test Sites Phase 2 is curated by Arie Rain Glorie, and produced by the City of Melbourne and Testing Grounds.
A trace object from this project will also be presented at ACCA, in the Project Space: The Hoarding over the duration of the exhibition.
