Test Sites is a public art development program co-produced by Testing Grounds and the City of Melbourne. Aarti Jadu, Georgia Nowak, Jenny Zhe Chang and Morwenna Schenck, are working in locations across Melbourne to further test their public art ideas developed during the 2021 edition of the Test Sites Online program.

Using the public realm as a studio, these four artists are exploring themes related to caring for the environment, immigration and mental health. Georgia Nowak’s Channel 2021-22, is a temporary sculptural work that acknowledges the Birrarung (Yarra River) as a living entity and highlights the value of water as central to ecological survival. Duty of Care by Morwenna Schenck is an interactive pop-up booth providing intimate encounters with local ecologies. EMBODIMENTS by Aarti Jadu is a multi-channel sound artwork that creates a calming space of introspection and respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. Jenny Zhe Chang’s Light with Hope – Harmonious 希望之光 – 和谐 uses lanterns made of bamboo steamers and construction materials to explore the land, rivers, and human coexistence.
